Our Mission

Building on decades of cutting edge research, training and practice experience, RIASPrime was established in 2017 to develop and disseminate innovative communication assessment and training tools that support high quality, patient-centered, and equitable health care.  Through the provision of consulting services and training in the use of the Roter Interaction Analysis System (RIAS), the company supports professional education, patient and family empowerment, medical care quality improvement, and excellence in clinical practice.

Our Founder

Debra L. Roter, DrPH, MPH, is founder and CEO of RIASPrime, LLC. She is a Johns Hopkins University Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Health, Behavior and Society at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and also holds appointment of Professor in the Schools of Medicine and Nursing. She is an internationally recognized pioneer in systematic assessment of medical communication and author of the Roter Interaction Analysis System (RIAS), the most commonly used method of medical communication coding world-wide.
